So I am also affraid of fire after my neighbor tried catching her house on fire and she hates me soo.. yeah every night I dream about my house catching on fire and my parents not believing me.. but I'd rather have that extreme form of phobia then having panic attacks when you look at dark windows..

Totally understandable

I, too, fear fire though not to the extent that you do. In elementary school, we were shown a film about fire safety and I became terrified of the thought of being unable to escape our home if it were burning. Both my parents smoked (and drank alot) and were known to fall asleep with cigarettes in their mouths. I insisted that we all sleep with our doors closed so that we could "feel" for the heat and not open them if there were a fire. My father refused to allow this, despite my begging. Even now I'm always thinking that I should install rope ladders under all our upstairs windows just in case. I am especially fearful that I will not be able to get my 3-year-old out. We recently had a 4-year-old in our community die in a fire with her father and grandfather-- there were no smoke detectors in the home and they died needlessly, all found near the front door. I knew the child's mother and am still heart-broke about this. I also fear that our carbon-monoxide detector will stop working or we won't hear it if we're sleeping (it's excrutiatingly loud). We also had a house blow up in a nearby community after residents smelled gas in and around and utility company was unable to locate the source. Very scary! I keep bugging my husband to clean out our dryer hose, even though I clean the lint trap religiously. I become especially fearful if I am home wihtout him and with my toddler.
