Older Signs?
by: Michael

I think it is because the signs you are talking about are older. In other words, up to the 1970s or so, interstate and highway signs used larger lettering and lighter colors. These faded away with time. I live in the Chicago area. Until the expressway and tollway system was rebuilt and redone about six years ago, those kinds of sings were commonplace. The surface streets also have newer signs as well. Newer, more pleasant signs have been installed. In the ghettos, old signs and ghost signs from former businesses on abandoned buildings exist.
