Wasp Fear
by: Anonymous

You don't say how old you are but you sound rather young.

I began to have a fear of wasp when I was around 20 yrs old due to a tramatic situation where wasp were simply present. When I was 23 or so is when I realized my fear wasn't normal. I tried several different therapy's such as desensidization, etc. Nothing worked. As I got older I also started drinking alot. I still do. It is now 30 years later and I'm 53. I have spent over 30 years of my life avoiding the outdoors, not eating on a patio, not going to the lake with friends, etc. I don't even go to some things like parties, because simply walking up to someone's door and waiting for them to answer it is too much for me. I always park in the garage as I can't even walk up to my own front door. Thank God for the few month of winter when I get a reprive.

The reason I'm telling you all of this is because you seem young and you need to do everything you can now to get help for your phobia. The longer you allow the phobia to manifest itself, the harder it will be to deal with. Believe me, I know. There are some new therapies that may be helpful. I've recently decided that I can't drink my way through this any longer....I'm getting too old for that. I'm going to check into some of the new things and see if they work.

best of luck to you
