Fearless child...sissy adult!

Most of my fears didn't develop until after adolescence. As a cheerleader in high school, I wasn't afraid of heights when going up in stunts but I was so afraid of falling. Being up high doesn't bother me, it's the idea of falling uncontrolably that bothers me. I was probably 20 when I developed my fear of spiders. I think the one situation that set it off was when I was painting at my grandparent's house. I took my gloves off to get a drink, which didn't even take 5 minutes. I came back, put my gloves back on and as soon as I lifted my arm up to paint a giant wolf spider ran out of one glove and up my arm, I seriously freaked out and almost fell off a 10ft. ladder! Ever since then, even the tiniest spider freaks me out. Perhaps my strangest phobis is the fear of loud flushing toilets, which didn't develop until about 5 or 6 years ago. I was a professional cheerleader and the toilets in our lockerroom were obnoxious. I'm not sure if it was the sound itself or the fact that I was always worried the water would splash up on me! I was never afraid of blood and guts until early adulthood...I won't even watch scary movies because I'm almost certain they are all gorey! I was much less scared of/worried about things when I was a child! Now I'm just turning into a sissy!
