suddenly feeling fear of running on a treadmill by: Anonymous
At age 40 I discovered running. I went to the gym one day got on a treadmill and began to run. I quickly realized I had great stamina for running, I was so proud of myself for being so consistent and looked forward to running at least three times a week. One day after three years of running I got on a treadmill and as I ran in full speed I felt a sudden feeling of panic. I immediately jumped my feet to each side of the treadmill. My heart raced profoundly as I watched the belt spin away. That day I walked away thinking and wondering what had happened to me? Its been 2 months and I have not been able to run on a treadmill since that day. I will attempt over and over and as soon as I gain just a little bit of speed fear sets in and Ill turn off the treadmill and walk away. Please if anyone has ever experienced this kind of phobia and have been able to overcome this fear share with me how to overcome. how to
treadmill phobia? by: Anonymous
Hi,
I read your comment with interest. Have you now found a way to overcoming your fear of using the treadmill? I have the same fear but, I have never had a bad experience while using the treadmill as you have. Which makes my case even more weird. What I cannot understand is that a few years ago I could run on the treadmill without any fear whatsoever. I could even grap my towel and wipe the perspiration over my face away with it WHILE running. Now I can't anymore! I have to hold the bar. And its very depressing to want to run but to have to stay 'tied down' to the machine.
