Fear of having my feet over my head
I have a persistent and irrational fear of having my feet over my head (i.e.: doing shoulder stands in yoga or other poses that involve having my feet over my head or bearing my body weight on my hands). I believe this developed when I was about 6 years old: I was in my basement doing something similar to a shoulder stand when I lost balance and fell, which really hurt my neck. Ever since then, I have never been able to do such poses again, and the thought of doing them scares me. When asked to do such poses, or even when I am in a room with other people doing such poses, my breath shortens, I get shaky and have to hold back tears. In a dance class I almost blacked out once when my teacher tried to help me do a shoulder stand.
