I am afraid of them too! When was younger we were making these Santa Clause things for Kindergartens and we used cotton balls! D: I was in the corner shivering.

It is a real phobia!

Hi, I know what you're talking about. My oldest sister has been deathly afraid of cotton balls her whole life. She, too, hates the look, the feel, and yes the squeaky sound. The fear actually does have a name (you'd be surprised to hear all the different phobias out there, lol) and it is called onomonophobia.

Be sensitive

First of all, no, I don't know the name of the phobia.

Second of all, the defenition of retardedly is relatively slow in mental or emotional or physical development. Using that term as a negative is highly offensive for some people. Please watch what you say.

Thirdly, you shouldn't be implying that your friend is stupid or her mentality isn't developed just because she (or he) is afraid of cotton balls. My phobia is of snakes, and it really hurts when people downplay my feelings or make fun of me for it. Having a good friend who will defend and support me has made my life so much easier.

My friend does too

I have a friend who also has a severe fear of cotton balls. Have you had a response on what it's called?

that's horrible

did you just say that your friend was "retardly" afraid of cotton balls? did i just hear that? i think that is one of the most horrible things i have ever heard. no phobia--no matter how irrational, and trust me, most of them are irrational--is ever retarded. i myself have a completely irrational fear of wrists where i can't look at them or think about them and i'm nearly hyperventilating just typing about them. but my friends support me in this, despite the fact that they can't understand it. you should be ashamed of yourself for not doing the same.
