Fear of checkout people in shops

by Tom
(England)

I've always been scared of buying things in shops. When I was younger I used to get my siblings to pay for my items. Even now I have issues with it, especially if a checkout person recognises me, or tries to talk to me. If that happens I tend to just avoid the shop completely. Thank god for the self serve system they've now introduced, or else I'd find it incredibly hard to buy from supermarkets. I can't say I've tried doing anything to help with this problem, but sometimes I try and muscle up with enough confidence to go to a till and nervously endure the whole ordeal.
